This project involved the construction of a 400 SF ADU, a 1200 SF two-story addition to the main house and new landscaping. The homeowners wanted more space for their young family and wanted a design solution that would allow them to remain in their current home rather than move to a larger house.
The main house addition and renovation included a gut remodel of the kitchen, primary suite, two kids’ bedrooms and a half bath. The ADU is conditioned with a high-efficiency heat pump.
To meet the clients’ timeline for the project, we phased the work into three separate building permits in order to expedite the start of construction.
The ADU, intended as a place for guests to stay and a playroom for the kids, has serendipitously served as a home office for the clients when they transitioned into working remotely in early 2020.
