Like many homes in Oakland and the East Bay, this detached garage was failing structurally from the concrete up. What initially began as a renovation turned into a complete rebuild of this property, including adding safe and secure storage to the main house in the breezeway the new building created.
Preconstruction budget development allowed this homeowner to identify the design components that were most critical and prioritize the income producing potential of a guest space without overbuilding storage in the main house.
During construction, the work was photographed at key junctures using 360 photo capture that will allow a future designer or builder to add a loft in the high ceiling rear bedroom down the road.
